The late Boyzone singer’s former bandmates will return to Mallorca to escort ‘their brother back home’.

The funeral for Boyzone singer Stephen Gately will be held in Dublin on Saturday (17 October), it has been announced, with plans for a London memorial to follow. He died at his home in Mallorca on 10 October, guardian.co.uk reports.

Boyzone members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch visited Dublin on Tuesday to pay their respects to Gately’s parents. Now that the family has confirmed their wish for Gately to be buried in Ireland, members of Boyzone will return to Mallorca on Friday to escort “their brother back home”.

According to guardian.co.uk a memorial for Gately is planned in London, where he lived with partner Andrew Cowles, the principal tributes will take place in Dublin. A private family mass will be held on Friday night, followed by a funeral service at St Lawrence O’Toole Church at midday on Saturday.
